DUI/DWI
Officers typically look for swerving, weaving, drifting, no headlights, driving under the speed limit, slow response to traffic signals or following too closely when making an impaired driver stop. A DWI/DUI arrest can lead to significant obstacles for you, even if you have never been in trouble with law enforcement before. You can instantly lose your driving privileges and face harsh penalties and fines. Your insurance can skyrocket. Every DWI or DUI is worth fighting!
Each DUI/DWI case is actually two-parted. The criminal portion is handled within the jurisdiction of the arresting agency and the driver’s license suspension is handled through the Department of Motor Vehicles. The license suspension hearing is the first opportunity to receive and challenge the evidence against you.
Under Louisiana law, you are legally drunk when your blood alcohol content is 0.08 or higher. If you are underaged, then a blood alcohol content of 0.02 or higher constitutes legally drunk.
