Annual Lawyers in Libraries Event
October 2024
The Louisiana State Bar Association held its 11th annual Lawyers in Libraries event October 21-26, 2024, in honor of National Celebrate Pro Bono Week. During this week, “Ask-a-Lawyer” sessions were held at over one hundred public libraries in Louisiana where patrons were allowed to ask legal questions in a one-on-one setting. Ms. Dazet was happy to dedicate her time to the Covington, Louisiana branch.
The Louisiana State Bar Association’s motto, “Serving the Public. Serving the Profession,” reflects its commitment to enhancing legal access. Despite overwhelming legal needs in Louisiana, the ratio of eligible individuals to legal aid staff attorneys is 22,500 to 1. Volunteer attorneys like Ms. Dazet are vital in bridging this gap.

Navigating the world of Autism is very difficult and often very lonely. Having a strong support system in place of people who love and understand what you are going through and being knowledgeable of the resources available to you in your community is so important!
Our community has a large number of families who have children not only on the spectrum but with different abilities and there is a need to spread awareness and to build a support system throughout our area.
We linked families with law enforcement, first responders, medical professionals, therapists, and other resources needed to safely navigate the world of Autism inside and outside of our community.

2023 Lawyer of Distinction
Lawyers enter the candidate pool by nomination from the Lawyers of Distinction Selection Committee or Lawyer Nominations. Lawyers of Distinction then utilizes provisional patent #62/743,254 to select professionals based upon verifiable objective criteria such as case results, honors, awards, verdicts, settlements, certifications, educational background and reviews. Once a final score is generated the applicant is then subjected to a final background check and ethics review.
